Provo

Golf in Provo

Provo golfers have Timpanogos Golf Club on Lakeview Parkway — the municipal course the city renamed from East Bay in 2020. A lot of people, and a lot of websites, still call it East Bay. It runs a championship 18, a lighted 9-hole executive course and a 7-hole beginner course, which makes it unusually friendly to somebody just starting.

Lessons here are held at a range on the Orem–Vineyard line, roughly fifteen minutes up the road from central Provo.

For Provo Golfers

The lighted executive course matters

If you are taking lessons and want somewhere to test the work without committing four hours, a lighted 9-hole executive course a few minutes from home is close to ideal. Most students improve fastest when there is a low-stakes place to play between sessions, and Provo has one.

Students and families

BYU is in Provo, and between the university and Provo High and Timpview, a good share of the golfers here are either students on a budget or parents of a junior. Both are well served by published pricing: a first lesson is $40, juniors are $40, and there is no membership to join.

Questions

Common Questions

Do you teach golf lessons in Provo, Utah?

Yes. Olson Golf Academy works with golfers from Provo and across Utah County. Lessons are one-on-one with Tyler Olson, a PGA Associate, at a range on the Orem–Vineyard line — about 15 minutes from Provo. Tyler confirms exactly where to meet when you book.

How much are golf lessons near Provo?

A first Swing Evaluation is $40, a 30-minute private lesson is $50 and a 60-minute lesson is $90. Packages bring it to $42.50 a lesson, junior lessons are $40, and group clinics are $35 per player. Every price is published — no quote or phone call required.

How far is it from Provo to the lessons?

About 15 minutes by car to the range on the Orem–Vineyard line. Exact meeting details come when you book.

Do I need my own clubs?

No. Say so when you book and Tyler will bring clubs that fit you. This is common and it is the sensible order — a fitting after a few lessons will tell you far more about what to buy than a shop can before you have swung.

Do you teach juniors and complete beginners?

Both, and they are a large part of the work. Junior lessons are $40 for 30 minutes for players 17 and under. Complete beginners need no clubs, no golf shoes and no experience — a $40 Swing Evaluation is the starting point.
