Questions

Before You Book

What is Olson Golf Academy?

Olson Golf Academy is independent golf instruction in Utah County, run by Tyler Olson, a PGA Associate. It is a coaching business, not a pro shop and not a club program — the coach owns the relationship, the schedule and the follow-up, so lessons are available on weekday mornings, after school, evenings and weekends rather than only around a pro-shop shift.

Who is Tyler Olson?

Tyler Olson is a PGA Associate based in Utah Valley and the founder of Olson Golf Academy. He is in the PGA's education program, working toward PGA Member status. He teaches beginners, adults rebuilding a swing, and competitive juniors.

How much do golf lessons cost?

A first Swing Evaluation is $40 (regularly $50). After that a 30-minute private lesson is $50 and a 60-minute lesson is $90. Packages bring the per-lesson price down: 3 for $140, 5 for $225, or 10 for $425 — $42.50 a lesson. Junior lessons are $40 and group clinics are $35 per player. Every price is published, which almost no instructor in Utah County does.

Where do lessons take place?

At a range in Vineyard, Utah, serving golfers across Utah County — Orem, Provo, Lehi, Vineyard, American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Saratoga Springs. Tyler confirms exactly where to meet when you book, so you always know before you drive.

Do you teach complete beginners?

Yes, and it is a large part of the work. You do not need clubs, golf shoes or any experience to book a Swing Evaluation. If you do not own clubs yet, say so when you book and Tyler will bring something for you to hit.

What age can a child start golf lessons?

Most children are ready somewhere around age seven, though it depends far more on attention span than on birthday. Junior lessons are $40 for 30 minutes, and there is a Junior Development Academy that runs six weeks for $189 per player.

Can you take golf lessons in Utah in the winter?

Yes. Utah Valley golf does not stop in December — it moves. Indoor and simulator sessions are available seasonally, and winter is genuinely the best time to rebuild a swing because there is no score to protect. Ask about winter availability when you book.
