Why Most Instructors Won’t Tell You

Search for golf lessons around Utah Valley and you will mostly find phone numbers. Prices sit behind a contact form, a call, or a membership conversation. That is a choice, and it is usually made because the price changes depending on who is asking.

Tyler publishes his. The number you see is the number you pay, whether you found the site on a Tuesday night or were sent by a friend. If you are comparing instructors, that alone is worth something — you can actually compare.

What the price includes

There is no membership, no facility fee and no minimum commitment. A single lesson is a single lesson.

Which One Should You Actually Buy?

If you have never had a lesson: the $40 Swing Evaluation. It is deliberately cheaper than a normal lesson because it exists to find out what is wrong before anyone sells you a plan to fix it.

If you know you are committing: the 5-lesson package at $225. Real swing change takes more than one session, and five is where most students start seeing it hold up on the course.

If you are buying for a child: a $40 junior lesson first. Spend $40 to find out whether they enjoy it before spending $189 on the six-week academy.

Questions

Common Questions

How much does a golf lesson cost in Utah County?

Expect $40 to $90 depending on length and instructor. At Olson Golf Academy a 30-minute private lesson is $50, a 60-minute lesson is $90, and a first Swing Evaluation is $40. Packages bring it down to $42.50 per lesson.

Is there a cheaper option than a private lesson?

Yes. A group clinic is $35 per player for 60 minutes with four to six players. Junior lessons are $40 for 30 minutes. And the 10-lesson package works out to $42.50 a lesson, the lowest per-lesson price offered.

Do I have to buy a package?

No. There is no membership and no minimum. A single 30-minute lesson is $50 and you can book one and stop there. Packages simply cost less per lesson if you already know you want several.

What does the $40 Swing Evaluation include?

Thirty minutes one-on-one, an assessment of what is actually costing you strokes, and a written Game Plan you keep. It is regularly $50 and is discounted for a first session because it is meant to be a starting point, not a commitment.

Are there hidden fees?

No, with one stated exception: the 9-hole playing lesson is $150 plus green fees, because the course charges those and Tyler does not mark them up. Regripping is $4 per club for labor, and the grip itself is charged separately, because grips cost more than $4.
